19. September 1997 -- Frankfurt/Germany: Ganz nach dem Motto "Sind sie zu stark - bist Du zu schwach" absolvierte Jochen Schweizer einen 1000 Meter Bungee-Weltrekord-Sprung. Er sprang mit einem 284 m langen Bungee-Seil aus einem Helikopter in ca. 2.500 m Höhe als erster Mensch der Welt 1.000 m in die Tiefe. Nach seinem unteren Umkehrpunkt und darauffolgendem Rebound am Bungee-Seil trennte sich Jochen Schweizer vom System ab und flog im Freifall zu Boden. Stärker gehts nicht!

This is insane. 2 BASE Jumpers jump from a bridge and are connected by a bungee chord. When they are both under canopy one jumper cuts away his main chute and bungee jumps from the other BASE jumper. He then cuts away the bungee chord and pulls a reserve parachute which slows him down just enough to land in a tree and not die.

Thats definetly world's highest bungee jump. Bungee out of a helicopter at about 500m / 1640 ft. This was an event which took only place about one time a year. It was rescheduled two times because it was so hard to organise. Unfortunately Jochen Schweizer doesnt arrange this event anymore.
